Sounds boring right? It's definitely not the most glamorous of topics in Landscaping but is up there as one of the most important. Improper installation of drainage or subpar materials can be detrimental to the overall outcome of your Landscape project; causing walls to fail, water to flow towards the house, bogged areas; all sorts of issues which could have been avoided.

Whenever we build a retaining wall at Instyle Habitats, there is a clear method to our drainage. Although you will never see any of the materials, it is one of the most important aspects of the wall to avoid failure.

Installing Socked agg lines will deter soil or contaminants from getting into the agg pipe and potentially blocking it. Geo fabric and plastic is pinned to the back of the wall to avoid moisture build up and decay of the structure of the wall. 10mm drainage gravel is then back filled against the wall so that water can pass easily through into the agg line below and flow away from the wall.

Getting the right falls away from house or towards channel drains is also crucial to avoid water flowing into the house and potentially causing severe damage.

If you have drainage issues on your existing property or have a new landscape project that you need assistance with we would love to hear from you. Feel free to reach out either through the website, email or phone to see how we can help you on your next project
